An opportunity was taken this mortiing by members of the Waipawa Borough Council, Chamber of Commerce, Justides of the Peace, and representative!s of the leghl fraternity, oil rhe occasion of the flnal visit to the district jprior to his retiring on superantiuation of Inspector Fitzpatrick, to nieet the inspeCtOr and extend to him good health and happiiiess in his retireinent. Mr C. G. E. Harker, oh behalf of the gathering, expressCd appteciation of the tactful and captible manuef in Which Inspector Fitzpatrick had carried out his duties While in charge 6f the difi' trict, and of the Willingness Which he had always shdwn to render any assistance in his power. He had cdnie tb Hawke's Bay at a time wheni as a result of the disastrous earthquakh, a great deal of extra Work was being placed upon the shoulders of those in authority, and the inspector had borhe his share of the burden and helped to restore order out of chaOS. The standUrd set by previous inSpectors had been fully upheid by the inspector during ths time "he had been in charge of the Hawke's Bay district. Endorsement of these remarks was made by Mr G. H. Hunt (Justices) and Mr F. M. Tickner (Chamber of Commerce). 1 Inspector Fitzpatrick in reply thanked the g&thering for the kindiy thought which had prompted the meeling, and for the sentiments which had been expressed. He would take the opportunity of expressing his appreciation of the cO-operation he had received iii carrying out his duties, particularly -•from the members of the legal profession in Hawke's Bay. With his fetirement would come a greater leisurd and he hoped to have opportunity of meeting in civil life many of those with whom he had become acquainted in the course of his official duties. Three hearty cheers Were then aecorded to the inspector.
