SPILT-INK CLUB HOLDS MONTHLY MEETING

The members of the Hastings branch of the Spilt Ink Club held their monthly meeting in the G.F.S. rooms last week. The attendance was good, although several members were absent on account of Olness. Several excellent short stories were read, and criticised in a helpful man- 1 ner, also some letters that had appeared in the local paper. It was suggested that members should eontribute articles of interest whenevei possibie. Discussions took plaee on various subjects chiefly with regard to the value of correspondence courses, and the apathy of the general' puhlic towards literary matters. All interested in literature will be welcomed at the monthly meetings, held on the first Thursday in the month at 7.30 p.m. The subject for the next meeting on Thursday, November 4, was left to the members' own choice.
