BRIDE WEARS GOWN OF MAGNOLIA VELVET

BAWDEN — DAVIES St. Matthew's 'Church, Hastings, was decorated with large bowls of cherry blossom and posies of orange blossom marked the guest-s' pews for the wedding on Wednesday evening of Nancy Mildred, elder daughter of IVIr and Mrs D. I. Davies, Pukehamoamoa, Hastings, and Italph David, second son of Mr and Mrs D. JBawden, St. Lawrence, Otane. The JTev. R. Hall, of Otane, officiated at the ceremony, and was assisted by the Rev. J. Anderson, of Puketapu. Mr O. B. Spinney presided at the organ. The bride's lovely gown was of magnolia regal ring velvet fasliioned simply with a small roll collar, the bodice being shirred in front and also at the waist. The isleeves cut full at the shoulders were fitting at the wrists and pointed over the hands and the skirt flowed into a long velvet lined train. Her beautiful veil of Brussels net (lent by her sister-in-law) was arranged from a coronet of orange blossom and was worn over her face. She carried an arm shower of cream carnations, freesias, tulips and maidenhair fern. The two maids were the sisters of the bride and bridegroom, Miss Joyce Davies and Miss Olive Bawden, and both looked very eharming in gowns of floral American matt crepe patterned in pink, blue and lemon. The bodices were pin tucked and finislied with beige crepe triple collars hemstitched in pink, lemon and blue, and the full sleeves were shirred at the shoulders. Their headbaDds of tiny fiowers were worn in Tudor stye and each maid carried a posy of freesias, sweet peas and fern. Mr Derek Motley (Auckland) was the best man and Mr Terry Davies the groomsman. As the bride left the church eho was presented with a lucky horseshoe by Miss Winnio Elliott. About 70 relatives and close fricnds were later entertained at a reception held at the Rialto tearooras. Mrs D. 1. Davies, the bride's mother, wore a model frock of black silk marocain patterned' with a floral design, a black silk coat and black hat. Her bouquet was composed of ranunculus, wall fiowers, tulips and fern. Mrs D. Bawden, the bridegroom's mother, wore a lido-blue French georgette and lace gown with a blue hat and she carried a bouquet of camelias and hyacinths. When Mr and Mrs Bawden left for their honeymoon, Mrs Bawden travelled in a smartly tailored costume worn with a brown hat and accessories. Their future homo will be in Auckland.
