Eight Clubs Represented at Waipukurau

WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. "My opinion was that the woathei was not good enough to opon in and yet not bad enough for a postponornent," aaid the president of the Waipukurau Bowling Club, Mr F. J. Duubar, in opening the bowling season yesterday afternoon. Founs were present from the foilowing clubs and they engaged in games with Waipukurau players; DannevirK*, Heretaunga, Napier, Hastings, Waipawa, Kia Toa and Havelock North. Thougli dullt the weather was line. Mr Dunbar welcomed players and spectators. . He trusted, he said, that the weather would be more favourable than last season, thereby permitting more inter-club visitors. A deadlock had arisen regarding afternoon Tfca arrangeinents, he proceeded, and wanted the committee to deal with the deadlock later in the afternoon. Mrs Dunbar sent down "kitty "—rfer a long head. Her first bowl was a moderately good one and the bowlers showed their appreciation.
