FOLK MUSIC EVENING AT NAPIER GUILD

The October iiieeting of the Napier Townswomen's Guild Musie Cirele was held on Tuesday evening wh'en Mrs. Rosewarne was in the chairy. The .evening was devoted to folk music an'd a very varied programme was presented. The choir:. opened with a part song, "Old Folks," an, American negro folk Song. Two Welsh songs, "300 Miles From London," and "The Little Shop ' y were sung by Mrs. Maiiey and Mrs. Carroll sang "The Dustman" and a Bohe'mian folk song. A pianoforte solo, Beethoven's Largo, was played by Miss Eddy and this was followed by vocal solos, "Robin Adair" and. "Coming Thro' the Rye," Sung by Miss F. Moss. Solos in Gaelic, "The Boat Song" and "Dendre's Farewell," were sung by Mrs. Durie. Mr. E. G. Jariiieson- then gave an in-tei-esting talk on folk music, taking his audience to almost every cOUntry in the world, and illustrating his talk With pianoforte solos peculiar to eaeh country. This Was a very 'enjoyable item. Mr. Jamieson Was thanked most heartiiy. Before supper was dispensed Mr. Jamieson gave a pianoforte Solo by requestj Greig's "To tbe Spring."
