HEIRLOOM HONITON VEIL WORN BY HASTINGS BRIDE
HUME— PETERSEN An exquisite heirloom veil of English Honiton lace was worn with a gown of ivory silver threaded matelasse by Phyllis Elaine, younger daughter of Mr and Mrs F. Petorsen, , Townshend street, Hastings, at her marriage last evening to Arthur Llewellyn, only son of Colonel J. R. Hume and Mrs Hume, of Nelson. The ceremony Was at St. Matthew's Churcli, Hastings, where masses of lovely * rhododendrons and pink and cream blossom had been arranged by the bride's friends. The Rev. Kenneth Liggett offieiated at the ceremony and Mr 0. B. Spinney presided at the organ.- • The bride's gown of silver threaded matalasse was fashionefl on classical lines with a very long train edged with hand-made silver lame flowers. The corsage was hand faggotted to the skirt in. .vandyked shape to show the silver lame underneath and corded circles of silver lame were arranged at the shoulders and wrists of the draped raglan sleeves. She wore ivory shoes with ' silver filigree buckles and her veil, which belonged to the hridegroOm's ; great grandmother, was arranged with a wide halo of defep cream orange blossom flowers and' buflS- She carried a shower b.ouquet olf lily of the valley and stocks with feffls". The mdids fn 'blue wore silver sandals and carried bpuqnets in. cream and pink shades with ros'es, carnations and freesias. The other two maids in lemon wore gold safl'dals and "their bouquets were in cream and mauve shades with roses, stockg and freesias. Each maid wore two tiny natufal. posies in her hair. . The bcst man was Mr Gavin Arthur and 'the groomsmeh W^re. Messrs Gordon Petersen, E. Small and Perrin Cutcliffe. The guests WeYe rOceived by Mr and 'Mrs F. Petersen, assisted by Colonel and Mrs Hume. Mrs Petersen wore 'a gown of black georgette patterned with posies of bright flowers, the draped corsage finished at the neck with a clasp. Her black ballibuntal hat was trimmed .with a pos 'y of flowers in the shades of her gown and she carried a bouquet of red roses and anemones. Mrs Hume wore a gown of navy flowered triple georgette with a hat of navy baku straw. When the bride and . bridegroom left for their honeymoon the bride travelled in a French model ensemble of suede :silk in an unusual shade of mulberry. The short sleeves of the frock were trimmed to match the basqued coatee with insets of filet lace and embroidery in self colour. A posy of roSypurple flowers was worn at the shoulder. Her smart little 1-oque of black cire straw had a tyre roll brim and bow in front and she worw black accessories; • Amoug the guests were Mr and Mrs John Petersen and Miss Betty Petersen and Mr Gordon Watkins of Patea, and Miss Petersen. q£ Wellington.
