J.'Baker (Haumoana),' Miss Bennett (Awatoto) and Miss' Margaret Simpson (Gisborne). After some • discussion it was decided that a- repres'entative bo sent to attend the meeting being '.convened by Miss H. Johnson, of . Massey Gollege, and . to '.be" held in Napier on October 12. Mrs C. J. Baker,- who has on tsevoral occasions, visited the institqte, gave a most interesting and co.mprehensive address ' on Dominion , Federation affairs. The meeting agreed that the 6um oi 30/- be sent to the general secretary towards the . Dominion endowment funds. A welcome, afternoon tea was.served by the hostess, Mrs.D, E. McLeod. Miss .Bennett, who was' then introduced, displayed some, daiuty, r.seful and novel articles, among which wero some . beautiful pieces of quilting, both English and Italian. A cloeely-watched demonstration on Italian quilting was then given "to interested -members by Miss Bqnnett. ,The day 's competitions. reisulted as follows: Man's floral buttonhole (judgetl by -Mrs O. J. Baker), Mrs Cameron 1, Mrs McEeod 2, Mrs Manson 3; worked buttonhole or . britway ( judged by the president) , Mrs Manson 1, Mrs Toothill 2, Mrs Nicoll and Miss McMichael 3 equal. The leader of the social circle stated that the last. meeting had been held at Mrs .H: W. Burge's home and that the next meeting /would take place at Mrs J. McNab 's home . in -November, when Mrs W. B. VNicoll, of -Hastings, would give a novel" talk. - Durihg the afternoon • Mrs . Mjllar pleasingly rendered pianoforte solos which were much appreciated.
