BRIDE WEARS GOWN OF IVORY LACE

OWEN— McBRYDE St. John's Cathedral, Napier, was beautifully decorated last Saturday evening for the wedding of Tonie Eileen, only daughter of Mr and Mrs A, E. McBryde, "Vigor Brown street, Napier, and Ira George. son of Mr H. A. Owen and the late Mrs Owen, Khandallah, Wellington. Dean Brocklehurst officiated at the ceremony and Mr Percy Tombs presided at the organ. The bride, who was escorte.d by' her father, wore a lovely frock of ivory needlerun lace, the shirred corsage having a spray of orange blossom at the neck. The back. and long tight-fitting sleeves were trimmed with tiny satin buttons and the long train was handworked with appliqued flowers of ivory satin. Falling from a halo of orange blossoms the dainty ivory* tulle veil formed a second train and she carried a bea-utiful shdwer bouquet. Two maids attended the bride, Miss Cushla McConnell (Gisborne), chief, and Miss Margaret McKenzie, their frocks being .of embossed cloque in shades of apricot and blue respectively. They were fashioned alike with the new high neckline and short puff sleeves, the full bodice^ being finished with a .contrasting flower and velvet sashes finishing the waist. Halos of tiny flowers were arranged on their heads and they carried shower bouquets in the shades of their gowns. Mr Fred Owen. brother of the bridegroom, was best man and Mr- George Attridge, of Wellington, was the groomsman. Messrs Stuart McKenzie and Earnest Gee were ushers at the church. A silver horseshoe with long silver ribbons was presented to the bride as she left the church by her cousin, little Wendy Freemantle, who wore a dainty frock of crepe-de-chine in apricot tonings. After the ceremony about 200 guests were received at the Victoria Hall by Mr and Mrs McBryde, the latter wearing a model gown of brown chiffon velvet with a yoke of brown lace, and

her bouquet was ' in autumn tonings. Mrs H. Owen, the bridegroom 's step- ' mother, wore a lovfely frock of burgundy triple crepe-de-chine * with a floral corsage and she carried a bouquet to tone. o : The hall and tables were artistically decorated with pink blOssom and in the centre of the bridal table was the fourtiered wedding cake, made and iced by the bride's mother. When leaving on their honeymoon, which is to be a motor tour of the north. the bride travelled in a smart navy cloque tunic frock with a lace collar. A navy toque with eye-veil wag also worn, and navy accessories and she carried a handsome fur coat.
