CAR RUNS DOWN-HILL
Fortunate Escape of Five Occupants VEHICLE TURNS SOMERSAULT Five occupants of a motor-car whicb became out of eontrol in Coote road, Napier, at seven o'clock last evening}, had a fortunate escape. The car, after running backward for some distance down tbe hill, turned a complete somersault, smasliing-in the hood, but apart. from bruises the occupaut^ were not injurod. The vehicle was driveii by Mr Jack Fraucis Woll'o. and with him were Miss Joan Green. William Walsl) and Williani Johu Powell. When about hali way up Coote road f ronj the Marino Parade the engine of the vehicle eeased to function, and when tbe brakes failed to hold it tbe car4 took a zig-zag. course down the hill. Gaining speed it crashed into a ditch whole of the upper portion of the bodyaud turned a complete soinersault, the work and wind-shield being smasbed. When the vehicle was righted it was diiven a,way under its own power.
