NATIONAL COUNCIL OF WOMEN MEET IN AUCKLAND
, For the flrst timo for many years the annual conf erenco of the Dominion National Council of Women will be held in Auckland, commencing on Wednesday. 'This is a most important event among women 's . organisations and a large number of delegates are expected. Uonference will open with a church service after which there will do a Mayoral reception and a morning tea given by the Mayor and Mayoress, Sir Hrnest and Lady Davis. In the evening a reception will be tendered by the .Auckland Lyceum- ' Club. Numerous other outings have been arranged by the Auckland branch of the council for the delegates. Oue outing which is considered to be of a business as well.as a social nature is a visit to Princess Te Puea's pa at Ngaruawahia on Friday, October 1, when the delegates will have an opportunity of experiencing Maori hospitality and also studying. Maori arts and crafts. The conference will conelude with the annual meeting, to be held either on the Friday night or the following Saturday. The president of the conference is Miss C. E. Kirk, of Wellington, tha Dominion secretary-is Mrs M. J. Forde, of Wellington, and the Dominion treasurer,. Mrs E. McNair, of Auckland. The Auckland branch offlces are Miss Ellen Melville, president, Miss >L. Langsford, s.ecyetary, , and Miss - G-. M. Hemus, treasqrer. . ' ... Among the subjects to be discussed are women, police, education, housing, social justice, motherhood endowment, omployment, - pehsions and health.
