Ballantyne and Itlr F.' X. Hunt had arranged the excellent prograinUie for this meeting which took " the 'form of a Delius evening. Tombs, thauked.Dr. Ballantyne and Mr Hunt, also Mrs Feildhouse, for a very in- , teresting evening, which had been enjoyed by everyone.- Mr Tornbs welcomed Dx*. Markham Lee, ihe examlner .for the Assticiated Board of Royal Schools of Music, who is visiting Napier' in connection with the local music examinations. Dr. Markham Lee,. who was the guest of the society for the evening, said that when he had coneluded the examinations in New Zealand he would leave for the ' United States where he will conduct lectures on music. The speaker was ploasantly surprised, he eaid, to hear of the Musicians' Society 's meeting coinciding with his visit and said a few words on the composer chosen for the evening. He said that the chamber music and songs of Delius gave much raore oppor-. tunity than his piano compositions. He was a manneri'stic composer and to M'r Lee.'s niind, did uot have a great deal of variety. He, himself, loved a iittlo of Delius, but not too much. : Mr Tombs thanked Mr Markham Leo ffor his very interesting littlo talk, and said how grateful the society was for his attendance after a hard and tedioua day 's work. - A light supper was then, served and much appreciated by everyone.
