Shortage at Wellington

WEIi LIN GTON , Last Night. Information has been received from Mr W. J. Mountjoy, secretary of thg Wellington Master Butchers' Association, to the effect that wholesalers have notified retail butchers of increased prices of beef, pork, mutton and lamb that will take effect as from Monday. The wholesalers are experiencing difficulty in getting stock, and, generally speaking, there is a shortage which has affected market prices. Beef has been increased by 9/- per 1001b. wholesale, and pork, lamb, and wether mutton bas correspondingly been increased. It has therefore been decided by the Wellington Master Butchers' Association that the retail prices will be increased as foliows: — Beef, by l$d per 1b ; i>ork, mutton and lamb, by ld. per lb.
