AUCKLAND, Last Nigbt. Eirm beef values ruied at Westfield market to-day, altbougb a much beavier entry was offered. Tbe quality in tbe ox beef section was first class but patcby among tbe cows. Tbe price of £17 for choice beifer was tbe best obtained at tbe sale for a long period. Extra choice ox sold at 41/- per 1001b., choice and prinie realised from 37/- to 40/-j unfinished 31/- to 36/-, prime cow and beifer beef 37/- to 40/-, unfinished 28/- to 36/-. Extra beavy steers ranged from £17 to £18 19/- beavy £15 10 £17, medium £13 10/- to £15, ligbt £11 15/- to £14, unfinished £9 to £11 15/-, extra beavy cows and beifers £12 to to £17, beavy £9 to £11 17/6. medium £7 15/- to £9 5/-, ligbt £6 to £7 10/-, unfinished £3 10/- to £6. Tn consequence of tbe high prices last week, an increased entry of sbeep was sold at slightly easier rates, particularly for ewes. Extra beavy wethers made from 47/- to 50/- beavy 42/- to 45/6, medium 40/- to 43/-, ligbt 36/to 40/-, unfinished 31/- to 36/6, shorn 25/- to 32/-, extra beavy ewes 37/- to 41/6, beavy 36/6 to 39/6, medium 35/to 38/-, ligbt 30/- tp 34/6, unfinished 26/- to 29/-, shorn 22/6, prime hoggets 22/6 to 40/-, unfinished 18/- to 22/* spring lambs 24/- to 39/-. Many small calves were included in a full yarding and recent higb quotations were maintained. Runners realised from £4 to £10 19/-, beavy vealers £5 10/- to £6 15/-, medium £4 14/- to £5 8/-, ligbt £4 to -£4 8/-, smaller £2 5/- to £3 10/-, small and unfinished £1 to £2 8/-, rough 15/- to £1 10/-, bobby 5/- to 17/-. Bacon pigs. improved by about 3/a bead after the recent decline. All ctber classes were quoted as firm. A larger yaTding was sold.
