16 Local Bodies Have So Far Applied

WELLINGTON, This Day. Sixteen applications by local bodies for housing loans have so far been approved by the State Advances Corporation according to an announcement mad'e by the Parliamentary UnderSecretary in Charge of Housing, Mr J. A. Lee, in an interview to-night. The number of houses to be erected is 132 and tbe amount of tbe loan authority £242,595. 1 ' The Dunedin. City Couneil has applied for a second loan of £100,000, and this will have the effect og. incrcasing j the total by anotber 85 houses at least," said Mr Lee. "The provisions whereby local authorities may erect houses with 3 per cent. money for local citizens are becoming increasingly popular, and applications are coming to hand regularly. If the total of .132 houses is added to the Housing Department 's total, over 1600 houses are now arranged for. ' '
