Maddison, chairman of Ibo Ilawke's Bay Education Board, this morning, in eomnicnting upon the attitude of parcnts to the intermediate sehook. Discussion on the subjcct was oceasioncd by a report that ot' 29 children in Standard 4 at tho Te Awa School, Napier, 20 are to go next year to tho Napier Intermediate School. Of 23 in Standard 5, oue only wishcs to transfer next year. Mr O. E. Sainsbury exprosscd tho , opinion that tho parcnts should not be pcrinitted to dccido the mattcr themsclvcs. "Why hasn 't the GovernmcAit the courage of its convictions'"' he asked. . "If tho intennediato schook are good then they should be encouraged. If not, lct's cut them out," added Mr Sainsbury. The mattcr was not carried further.
