MR LEWIS EADY

The death occurred on Saturday of Mr I.ewis Robert Eady, founder of the firm of Lewis Eady, Limited, Queen street, Auckland. Born in Creaton, Northamptonshire, Mr Eady came to New Zealand in the ship Andrew Jackson, A talented musician, he very quickly made a success of his business as a musio dealer, which he began as a young man in 1884. He was very enthusiastic in the yolunteer movement, being a membfer of the Victorian Rifle3, and, at another poriod, of the Engineers. Mr Eady was for many years a member of the orchestra of the Choral Society. His chief instrument was the dorible bass, but he also played the piano well. His gift of a large collection of volumes of tnrisicai literature and scores to the city of Auckland formed the nucleus of tho Lewis Eady musio section of the Auckland Public Library. He is survived by his Wife, five sons and a d&ughte*. i
