The crowd was entertained with the liveliest crieket of the whole tour when New Zealand. met Ireland in a return match, tho batsmen scoring at the rate of two runs a minute. The wieket was easy after rain, which delayed' the start until • mid-afternoon. Wallace and Donnelly were associated in a remarkable second-wicket partnership worth 98 in -37 minuteis. Wallace gave a wonderful display of olean hitting reminiscent of Dacre. His score included seven sixes and six fours. Six wickets fell for 162. Page and Roberts, hitting freely, added 91 in under an hour. At stumps, New Zealand in the first innings had scored eix for 253 (Wallace 82, Page not out 44, Roberts not Out 48).
