A feature of the first rounds of the Australian amateur and profeSsiofial golf championships, 36 holea match play, to-day was the defeat of the open champion, G. Naismith, 2 and 1, by the Moore Park professional, C. Booth. The iatter was 3 up at the end of 18 holos. Ferrier beat Hattersley 2 an_d 1 after a hard fight. Von Nida beat Spence 9 and C. The Victorian, Williams, beat Higgins 3 and 2, while Richardson beat Boorer 5 and 4. Other winners included W. Bolger, Byan, Davies, Headlam, Rae and Walker.
