MR. JAMES LESLIE
The death is announced from Christchurch of Mr James Leslie. for 20 yeaus chairman of tho Paparua County Council and a niember since its inception. He was also a 'mernber of the Waimakariri Eiver Trust and Lyttelton Harbour Board. He was for many years connected with the New Zealand Eefrigerating Co. 's works at Islington, and was works manager from 1895 to 1926, when he retired to take up farming. At one time he was president of the Canterbury Park Trotting Club, and at the time of his death he was a mernber of the committee. He was also a niember of the Canterbury Jockey Club and the Banlca Peninsula Eaciug Olub. He was well linown among farmers throughout Canterbury, and was held in. very high esteem. He was born in County Derry, lreland, on Marcli 30. 1S55, and arrived in Lyttelton in 1876.
