Spring Flower Show WAIPAWA, Sept. 13. The monthly meeting of the Waipawa Women 's Institute was held on Friday afternoon, in conjunction with the spring flower show, Mrs. Adeane (vicepresident) being in the chair in the unavoidable absence of Miss Jull. There was a very large display of beautiful flowers, and the numerou.; entries for the various seetions made judging very difficult. A letter was rcceived from the English linlc at Seaview, Isle of Wight asking for Waipawa earth to sprinklt over tho institute section of the chi: dren's Coronation playground. It wa.also decided to send funds for the purchaso of a tree to bo plantod in the plot. Advice was received that the Otane Institute would be holding a flower show next week. Miss Jull and Mrs. Preston were appointed to act as dclegatcs to the half-yeariy federation meeting to bo held at Papatawa. A rnost intcresting addrcss on a visit to Japau was given by Mrs. Riddle, of Hatuma, and a hearty voto of thanks was accordcd to the speaker. A competition for smockipg was wou by Mrs. F. Mitchcll. A dainty after uoon tea was served, the hostesses for the day being Mesdames Donghi, Jackson, E. Kittow, Wheeler and Miss Dailey. Flower Show. ^ The results of the flower show were as follow, Mr. T. Carson acting as judge: — Three trumpet daffodils: Mrs. Collins 1, Mrs. E. Bond 2, Mrs. Wheeler 3. Three double daffodils: Mrs. Bryanfc 1, Mrs. Pepperell 2, Mrs. R. Donghi 3. Three short trumpet daffodils: Mrs. Wheeler 1, Miss Jull 2, Mrs. Thackeray 3. Three polyanthus narcissi: Mrs. Towers 3, Mis3 O'Halloran 2, Mrs. Thackeray 3. Three snowflakes: Mrs. Buckeridge 1, Mrs. Wheeler 2, Mrs. W. Iroland 3. Three Iceland poppics: Mrs. Mitchell 1, 2 and 3. Vaso violets: Mrs. E, Bond 1, Mrs. W. Ireland 2, Mrs. Thackeray 3. Best colloction spring flowers; Miss Frobarth 1, Mrs. Thackeray 2, Mrs. J. Walker, scnr., 3. Decorated baskot; Mrs. Mitchell, 1, Mrs. E. MacGregor 2, Mrs. E. Bond 3. Bowl bulbs: Mrs.' E. Bond 1, Miss Bibby 2, Mrs. Mitchell 3. A voto of thanks was accorded to Mr. Carson for his services as judge, and to Miss Bibby and Mrs. Thompson for acting as flower stewards.
