Meeting of Committee

waipawa, .oast rsignt. At tlie monthly meeting of the Waipawa Bchool Committee there were present Messrs S- W. Strang (cliairman), V. Patterson (secretary), M. Martin, R. Hutcliings, O. Page, G. Taylor, and the headmaster, Mr It. C. Adlam. An apology for non-attendance was received from Mrs Adeane. The chairman welcomed the newly-a-ppointed members, Messrs Taylor and Page. It >vas decided to grant the children a holiday next Wednesday to give them an opportumty of attending the Springbok niatch at Napier. School ball and general accounts were passed for payment, the receipts from the ball showing an increase on last year. A resolution of appreciation for services rendered by those who assisted was' adopted. The visiting committee, Mr Hutchings and Mrs Adeane, reported the necessary repairs. It was decided to make arrangements with Mr E. Waldron to plough the new school ground. Messrs Martin and Patterson were appointed visiting committee for the ensuing month. It was reported that Standards 3 and 4 had paid a visit to the jvorks m progress for the construction of the new railway bridge and were greatly interested. The headmaster reported on the attendance as follows : — Last month, primary roll 207, average 189 j secondary roll 69, average 67. Last quarter, primary roll 204, average 184; secondary roll 70, average 67. After a fairly successful season basketbail and football have now ended for the year, reported the headmaster. The A basketball team was particularly successful, winning the -Central Hawke's Bay competition, and six of the girls were chosen to represent Hawke's Bay minor at the Auckland, tournament. Five of the primary boys represented Central Hawke's Bay in the ltoss Shield games at Hastings.
