Waterfront Trouble at Auckland
(By Telegraoh-
AUCKLAND, This Day. Dissatisfaction with the alleged unequal distribution of work un the wharves and the effect on non-unionists of the clause giving preference to members of the Waterside Workers' Union culminated in a decision by nonunionists known as "seagulls" to cease work yesterday. To-day the dispute is still unsettled; non-unionists maintainxng the same attitude a.% yesterday. Work on th© wharves was normal today because enough umon labour was available i'ully to man all the ships. Over 500 non-unionists are alfected. Their spokesman stated to-day that the trouble does not lie between them and the unionista but is concerned with a clauso in the I.C. and A. Act which precludes tlie uso of non-uniouist labour where unionist labour is available. A large meeting of non-unionists was held to-day and another will be lield on Monday.
