LEAKS IN ROOF
Women'sRest Building Becently an inspection of the roof of the Women 's JRest building was made by Gr. T. Dobson and he reported to the Hastings Borough Council last evening that though the roof would be quite satisfactory for a long timo to come, there was a definite sourco of trouble to be anticipated from high winds* A dozen leaks in the slate roof were found, and to re-lay the tslates . would be an expensive and recurring undertaking. He said that there appeared to he no other alternative but to cover the entire roof in iron. The Works Committee reported having considered the matter and considered that certain leaks caused by the chimney flashing and the skylights could be xepaired, but suggested that the matter of replacing the roof , with iron he held over until the summer. It was decided to defer the matter until the February meeting of tho council. "Everything in the building is in good order," reported the matrou, Mrs. K, Hagenson. The total atlcndanco last month was 5557, consisling of 4490 phtrons 35 visitors and 1032 attendances at the Plunket Iiooms. Cash roceipts totalled £17 0/7. Parccls of magazmes were\ received from Mrs. Phillips, of Havelock North, and Mrs* Banks, of Tomoana road.
