45/- FOR EWES
■ m — — ■■■.■ Strong Selling for Fat Sheep
SHORN WETHERS AT 30/Very little change in the market for fat sheep from the advanced values of last week was shown at Stortford Lodge to-day when there was a large yarding. The first shorn wethers of the season were offered to make 30/- for a pen that would kill out at 561bs. Ewes consisted of over 90 per cent of the yarding and for the first few pens values wero 3/- a head easier. A recovery to last weelc's rates, however, was soon made and several pens of heavy ewes were traded at 45/- a head. Competition for outside requirements enlivened the quiet opening. Values were made as under for seleeted entries : — An entry of 33 extra heavy prime ewes, well woolled, sold at 45/-. A single two-tcoth prime English Leicester ewe brought 43/6. An entry of small framed Southdown ewes, fairly finished sold at 24/-. A further entry of light Southdown ewes was passed at 20/-. An extra prime heavy hogget was purchased at 43/-, the same xiurchaser also taking a prime lieavy wether at 46/-. Three pens of lieavy prime ewes in extra good order sold at 45/-. A line of heavy priine ewes fourtooths and upwards, brought 44/-. On account of Mr H. A. Trent, Waihau, an entry of prime medium to heavy ewes well woolled, sold at 38/3.
