WOMEN'S INSTITUTE TWYFORD MEETING
• % The atteiidance of members at the Twyford Women 's Institute meeting on Buturday was good, aud a special welcome was extended to two visitors. The quotation for the day given by- the hostess, Miss I. J. Burge, was "An lionest pride in work well done, is the nicest comfort under the sun." Mesdames Bixley and Knucky were the delegates chosen for the Northern Hawke's Bay Federation half-yearly •meeting to be held next month. Tho roll-call, "Sing, say, or a penny pay," brought forth recitations, piano solos and several humorous stories. During the afternoon two new members were enrolled. A debate, "Should husbands accompany their wives on holiday," was most interesting and entertaining, and although the flnal voting on the debate was neariy even, the teams speaking in favour of husbands accompanying thoir wives actually won. Following afternoon tea, Mrs H. W. Burge and Mrs Masters, senr., kindly judged the eompelitions, the results beliig as foilow: — Bomething' new from sometliing old, Mrs Cameron 1, Mrs A. J. Masters 2; ginger bread from a given reeipe, Mrs Carrington I, Mrs McLeod 2, Mrs A. J. Masters 3; three best bioonis, Mrs Carrington 1, Mrs Tweedie 2, Mrs Thompson 3. As it was Twyford 's month for the collection of gifts for the children 's liomes, the articles from the first two competitions were used for this purpose and these together with otlier miscellaneous gifts made the collcction a 1 very satisfactory one. , Au entertaining competition arrang- > ed by the hostess was won by Mrs A. ] J. Burge. ' The singing of the National Anthem concluded tlie meeting.
