O Car Collides With Pole accident near tinwald

CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. Serious injuries were received* by two passengers in a sinall car driven by Mr W. R-. Patrick, of Invercargill, a fomier Canterbury and New Zealand Cricket captain, when it struck a power-pole on Ihe Main South road in Tinwald township about eight o'ciock yestcrday moriung. Mr Patrick was also injured, but his condition was reported last niglit to be satisfactory. The passengers were Miss Giadys Marshall, a young woinan, of 82 Burke street, Invercargill, and Mr Neil McGowan, also a wcll-known cricketcr in South land. Miss Marshall, whose condition was reported to be very serious last night, suffered a fracture of her right leg, injuries to her left lcg, and shock. Mr McGowan, whose condition was reported to be serious, suii'ered liead injuries. Mr Patrick suffered head injuries, but he was reported to bo in a satisfactory condition. The party left Invercargill at five o'ciock on Thursday eveuing, travelling all night. After the accident occurred Mr Patrick walked to the ambulance, but the others had' to be) placed on stretchers.
