Epdemic Spreads n United States (Received 4, 8.45 a.m.) NEW YORK, Sept. 3. The whole continent is contcrned at the prevalence of infantile paxalysis, especially in the Middle West States and Southern Canada.' The United States death roll is more than 200 and new cascs reported last week numbered 621. Schools in six States have been closed as a precautionary measure, 1,200,000 children having an involuntary holiday. The outbreak in the United States is described as a mild epidemic but grave alarm is felt in Ontario, where it is threatening to overtax the hospitals. There have been 12 deatlis among 804 cases. At Toronto 5000 children were treated with a zinc sutphate nasal spray, which is described as the lirst mass test of such a treatment.
