Motorist Hits Cyclist and Then Bus

GISBORNE, Last Night. To eniounter a double mishap was the unpleasant experience of Miss Tangi Chase, of Wairoa, runner-up iii the Maori women 's golf championship, in the upper part of Main street this evening. The car driven by Miss Chase str-uck a cyclist, James Wright, who turned a somersault but had the presence of mind to catch hold of the bumper of the car. The cyclist and his machine were carried 70 yards along the road before he got clear. When the ear struck the cyclist Miss Chase swerved to the right, crashed into a Borough Council bus and continued on till the car came to rest in the watertable on the wrong side of the road. . The cyclist received a cut on the head and an injury to his knee.
