e Euchre Party. There was a good attendance at the weekly euchre party at the Ormondville school. Sonie very close tussles toob place. Mrs S. Powell and Mrs Ernest Cload tied for first place for the women's prize, with 10 games each, whereupon they elected to "cut" for the trophy, rather tliau play olf, Mrs Cload proving the winner. Mr J. Hamilton took the men's prize, having won 9 k games. Mrs Hardie, a visitor trom Palmerston Nortli, and Mr E. Cload, annexed the consolation prizes', with four and five games respectively. Mr E. Cload controlled ihe games. Crass-Crub Menace. Grass grubs, have been doing a great deal of damage to pastures in the distriet, according to a general discussion at yesterday's mdeting in Waipukurau of the Hawke's Bay Provincial executive of the Farmers' Union. All the delegates were of the opinion that, if they eould get some information on how to deal with the pest, they would be doing a very real service to the farming community. Colf at Ormondville. The third and final round of the eclectic competition was played over the Ormondville links on Saturday, the competition being won by Mrs W. Av Trask, with Miss J. Morrison, Mrs N.
