. WHANGAREI, This Day. An inquest into the death of Angus Colin McLean, of Waipu, who died following a football matcli at Mareretu on July 31, was further adjourned on the application of tlie police. Jolin Donald McLean, the deceased's father, in his evidence yesterday, said that he asked his son liow the accident occurred, and his reply had been that he caught the jersey of a player who had swung round, liitting hihi with his iist. Witness told the coroner that he had not mentioned that previously as he) did not think he would say anything about it." The evidence of the referee, spectators and pLayers was that the game was clean and friendly, there being no element of feeling between the teams. The referee said that McLean told him that someone struck him with his elbow, but witness saw no blow struek. An unusual situation, wherein the father identified the body of his son, but gave the wrong narne, the warrant for burial being issued by the coroner under the wrong fitle, was disclosed at the inquest. The body was identified as Colin .. Jolin, whereas actually the name was Angus Colin. Deceased was always known as Colin and the coroner said that the father' s mistake was quite understandable under the circumstances. The position was rectified by recalling) the father and the production of the birth certificate.
