WELLIN GT'ON, Last Night. Tho -aetual business, discussions at. to-day's conference of county clerks were held in committee. The balancesheet, which was received and aiopted, showed a credifc- bala,nce of £157 12s 9d on the year's working. The presldents of the various district branches reportod on their respectivo activities and Messrs G. Kelly, of Ashburton, D. Ashcroft, of Manakau, and C. Cowper, of Waimarie, prescnted papors on severai aspects of county administration. Mr. C. J. Talbot, of Fairlie, president, of the New Zealand Countics' Associa^ tion, and Mr. F. Belton, of Patea, a membcr of the executivc, visited tho conference during the afternoon and1 each addressed it.
