MARIST BEAT HASTINGS O.B. IN FOURTH-GRADE FINAL
Those spectators who were early on the ground at McLean Park, Napier, on Saturday, for the Otago — Hawke's Bay match, were treated to some good footfcall in the curtain-raiser, which was to decide the Hawke's Bay Eugby' Huion's fourth grade cbampionship. T'he contending teams were tbe Marist Brothers Old Boys, and Hastings Higb Schnol Old Boys, and they gave an exposition of fast, open play, spectacular mnning, kicking and passing, and good scrum work that would have done credit to an older team. With Hastings holding a lead of five points at half-time, a victory for them looked likely, but Marists came to light in the second half with some nippy passing, and, handling the ball with judgment, they added eleven points to tho half-time score, winning the match by 17 points to 11. For M.B.O.B., Luke, Freer, Golding and Scullin scored tries nnd the lastmentioned kiclced a penalty and a couversion. Mr E. Marcroft was the referee.
