Cable and Wireless Conference

AUCKLAND, Last Niglit. On kis return from a trip to London, tlie Djrector-General of the Post and Telegraph Department, Mr G. McNamara, arrived at Auckland by tlio liiier Mataroa 011 Saturday and left for Wellington by tbe afternoon express. Mr McNamara was sent to England to represent New Zealand at tbe conference of aciministrative lieads of the postal departments of the principal Empire eountries, keld for the piirpose of reviewing the Imperial communication system carried on by Cable and Wireless Ltd. The proceedings were carried On as a preliminary to tlie Imperial to tlie Iijiperial Conference. At tlieir conclusion Mr McNamara was attached to the official staff of the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr Nash, for the duration of the conference. Asked if he could give any information on the cable and wireless conference, Mr McNamara said its recommendations had been submitted to tke various governments concerned for ratitication and, in the meantime, wero confidential, He believed that a full statement regarding them would be issued in due course.
