OBITUARY
MR. T. GREEN Another fairly old icientity of Hawke's 13ay, Mr T. C'Tommy") Gvecn, of Taradale, passed away in the Napier Public Hospital. Mr Green, whose regimental number was 91559, was a returned soldier, having left Zealcind with tlie Maia iSody in 191-1, with tbe al'iillery sectiou. After serving ior about two years, he was badly gassed, and alter being in hospital in England for a timo was invalided home, leturning to this Dominion late in 1916 He originally canie to New Zealand about 40 years &go, nild, Witb the exception ti his war record. had always resided in Hawke's i3ay, working first with Mr T. H. Lowry, UkaWa (for whom he prepared . horses for the Hawke s Bay fcshoW, notably in 1919), and iater with Mr Harold Russell, Tunanui. He also was a promiuent figure among the racing fratexnity about 35 years ago. He was of a gen* ial persouality and was much esteemed by ali with whom he came in contact. Oi later years he had resided on ihe Redclyife e state in a little horne provided for him by the late Mr Philip Dobel. The burial took place in the Taradale cemetery. Requxem xnass was offered at St. Maty's Church, Meeanee, by his Gra'ee, Arcllbishop O'Shea, assisted by tlie ltev. Father iteardon, S.M., P.l3., the laltor also conducting the obsequies at the graveside. The pall-bear-crs were Messrs J. O. Cassin, D. Irviue, T. Cotterill, O. Gallien, A. Golding aud P. Dolbel, and among the funeral cortegie wero a number of returned mou to pay their last tribute oi respect.
