v — 4» ^ K* Two Men Charged With Attempted Burglary . The sounding of a warnlng device attached to a shop-door and acting as a burglar alarm resulted in the appearance in the Hastings Police Court this morning of Albert Arthur Ashton and Malcolm MeCallum McKenzie on charges of attempting to break into a shop occupied by Mr Robert Fitzwilliam in Maraekakaho road, Hastings, last evening with intent to cominit a crime there, On the application of Senior-Sergeant G. Sivyer a remand until Thursday was granted by Mr J. Sticklahd, J.P. The two men were arrested last night after they had been detained by Mr Fitzwilliam. It is alleged that they opened a fly door outside the main door to Mr- Fitzwilliam' s shop and, in so doing, rang a bell in the house behind the shop, an arrangement designed to operate when customers enter the shop. Mr Fitzwilliam and his assistant at once went to the front of the shop and detained the men until 'the police arrived.
