Pan-American Said to be Backers (Received 7, 1.0 p.m.) MONTREAL, August 6. A belief prevails in banking circles that Pan-American Airways' are oue of the principal backers of the Australian inter-capital Bcheme, in order to provid© a domestie link-up with their Pacific secvice. The Australian Associated Press learns- that similar rumours have been current in aviation circles on the Pacifio Coast for some time. The principal offiqials of Pan-American Airways' refuse to comment, but their New York office said that it was without confirmation. The National City pank categorically depied any conncetion, finan-cia-1 or otherwise, with the enterprise.
