AUCKLAND, Last Night. The emihent English -architect, Sir Giles Gilbert Scott, R.A., designer of Liverpool Cathedral, has been appointed, with his prior consent, to act as sole assessor in the competition for a design for the Auckland Anglican Cathedral which is to be erected in Parnell in terms of a large bequest made by the late Miss M. T, Horton. The provisions of Miss Horton 's will require the general trust board of the Auckland Diocese or other controlling authority, to accept a competitive design for the cathedral within seven years of her death which occurred in: May, 1935. . When her trustees are; satisfied that the cathedral is to bo built on the site acquired for the purpose in Parnell b'y Bishop Selwyn, they have : authority to pay out of the trust fundi a sum not exceeding £1000 for the; accepted competitive design. The build-: I ing must be commenced within 10 years of testator's death. Misfi Horton 's bequest is estimated toi produce approximately £60,000,
