Spring Show Discussed NO CHANGE IN DATE The gub-committeo of the Hawke's Bay Agricultural and Pastoral Society reported on its proposals for the parking of members' cars at the society 's committee meeting held at the showgrounds at Tomoana this morning. The report, which was adopted, favoured a systetn by which members could reserve space on the grounds at a fee of 5/-. \ Eeference was made by the chairman, Mr. J. H. Absolom, to the passing of Mr, C. E. Twist, who had been a prominet member of the society for many years. A request from the Eoyal Society that the dhte of the show should be changed was not favoured. As a Tesult of the yards at the railway siding at the showgrounds having to be dismantled to facilitate the carrying out of the Hastings sewerage scheme, the distriet engineer of the New Zealand Eailways advised that it would be neeessary for some of the tioiber to be replaced. The cost of this would be charged against the society. This matter was left to the grounds committee to investigate. A suggestion from Mr. J. E. Beamish that classes should be added for blue or blue red cock and hen (big), Old English Game, was not'favoured, it being held not worth while maoing another class. The Hastings Poultry Association recommended the appointment of Mr, E. J. Poswillo as judge of poultry at the Spring Show. This recommondation was noted. The general manager of railways during his Wairoa visit promised to look : mto the desire for a stock train and f a special passenger train. A letter from the Wairoa branch of the Farmers' Union advised that the branch was represented on the deputation to the general manager of railways, and said that there was no possibility of a special passenger train to the show from Wairoa on People 's Day. The branch expressed appreeiation of the society 's decision to give a challenge cup. The report of a sub-committee re - garding the etocouragement of the breeding of horses suitable for military purposes, which, it was pointed out, could be done only by some means of subsidy, was adopted. If cavalry horses were needed enough horses would not be available in the country to meet the requirements, the report stated. The proposals are to be submitted to the Government. The Kennel Club asked for a donation of £20. The usual donation of £5 was adhered to. Three donations towards the lighthorse section in the Spring Show were received from Mr. Walter C. Ensor, £2 2/-, Mr. D. J. Macfarlane, £2 2/-, and Mrs. C. E. Twist, two riding whips. A vote of thanks to the donors was passed, allocation being left to the committee. Five new members were enrolled — Messrs. H. E. Allen, Hastings, A. L. Stewart, Ti-Tree Point, A. E. Nelson, Havelock North, W. Gordon Douglas, Havelock North, and one junior member, Mr. D. L. Holt, Bay View.
