MISS B. HARTNELL GUEST AT HASTINGS PARTY
Miss Beuhih Uartnell, travelling orgauisiug secretary for the British and Foreign Bible Society, was the guest of honour at a littie party on Friday. The girls' room at the Wesley Hall was gay vvith baskets of iceland poppios and vaaes of spring flowers, which had been arranged by Mrs N. Foster. In the absenee of the president, Mrs J. Wilson% the secretary, on behalf of those present, welcomed Miss Hartnell. oxpressing the hope that in taking iip the work in Hawke 's Bay Miss Hartnell would haVe a very happy and successful timo. ' Miss Hartnell said that she deeply appreciated the warm welcome extenided to her, and outlined the work of the Bible Society. She thanked the many friends who Ead devoted so mueh of their time and labour to f urther its interest in tbe past, pd solicited their help again this year. She said the annual meeting had been arranged for Aug'us|: 11, an the Campbeli room at St. Audrew's Hall, and she hoped to be able to tell them more about the work of tho society 011 that occasion. A dainty afternoon tea was handed round, and • a very happy afternoon spent.
