TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY PARTY IN HASTINGS

CJn Friday night the Drill Hall, Hastingn, was the venue for another successful social evening, organised by the members of the D Support Company of the 1st Battalion ■ Hawke 's Bay Eegimenf. Thcs occasion took the form of a eelebrat.ion for the coming-of-age of oue of its members, Corporal Jack Beale, and the large attendance showed their appreciation by making the evening a most successful and enjoyable one for Mr Beale fo remember in years to come. Captain H. McKay, acting as host of tho evening, made references to Mr Beale 's qualities as an N.C.O., and to his valuable services as secretary of the Rifle Club. Mr Beale, in reply, thanked all present for the wonderful evening

accorded him, and to the kiud remarks made by Captain McKay, who later made him a preseutation of an engraved wallet.
