f WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. Stating that he regarded the matter in a serious ligiht on account of the vehicle eoncerned having Been nsed as a passenger qar, Mr J. Miller, S.M., in the Magistrate' s Court at Waipukurau to-day finqd W. J. Mahoney, sef-vice-car operator, £3 and costs 10/for operatipg a vehicle in reepect of which no warrant of fitness had been issued. Traffic Inspector W, E. Yates stated that the last warrant. of fitness had. expired, and acoused had been unable to get the car passed for another. He had used it for ahout five weeks without a certifieate, but the inspector understood that he had now procured another car. His Worship: Is it off the road now? , Mr 0. G. Harker, appearing for defendant, stated that it was, and a new car wonld be taking its* place as soon as a certifieate oould he issued for it, whioh would probably be to-day. Care-. lessness was admitted, but his client was doing his best to remedy the matter. The same car was eoncerned in a case in which Hector James Little pleaded guilty to driving a car without lights and with parking otherwiso than parallel with the roadway. C|i the first charge he was fined 15/- and on the second 5/-, ivith costs 10/- in each case.
