LONDON, July 23. Bluebird, Sir Malcolm Campbell' s great new speedboat, had her first test run on Loeh Loinond yesterday. Tearing over the measured mile at a speed officially announced as "just over 85 m.p.h." Sir Malcolm had to cope with rain and mist, „ which, in his own words, "frightened hyn." "The visibility was appalling," he said. "1 could not see the flagstaff on the small island near thfe course, although I was not wearing goggles. "I was frightened to go on any fur ther in case I ran into a sandbank." Sir Malcolm said he did not have any real feeling of speed. There ivas no thrill of speed, as the average person might expect it. The whole trial took only six minutes. Few people saw it, and those who did had been encamped by the loch for days patiently waiting.
