Waipukurau Members' Day The monthly meeting of the Waipukurau Women 's Institute, which was held in the Masonic Hall, Waipukurau, on Tuesday afternoon, was members' day, there being a huge attendance ot members an.d friends. The motto for the day was, "We cannot do everything, but we can do our bit." Members were reminded of the drama festival to be held in Waipawa on July 30. Opportunity was taken to farewell Mrs Rush who, with her husband, is leaving for Palmerston. In making a small presentation, tHe president expressed regret at Mrs Eush's departure, and wished her and her husband every Buceess in their new home. Mrs Goodeve, who has left the district, was also the reeipient of a small presentation. After routine business had been dealt with Mrs Alf. Young took the chair, and a very entertaining programmo was presented by the members. Songs were rendered by Mrs D. Scott and Mrs D. Clark, a recitation by Mrs Alf. Young, a tap-dance by Betty Meredith, and a sword dance by Nola Begley, these items being interspersed with a number of competitions. A much-enjoyed programme concluded with an amusing sketch entitled, "Youth Glands," given by Mesdames Alf. Young, D. Davey Rush and Begley. The results of the competitions were: Any article from a sugar bag, Mrs Grifdths 1, Mrs Scherf 2, Mrs Praser 3. Madeira cake, Mrs Perkins 1, Mrs Brown 2, Mrs Fraser 3. Daintieat buttonhole, Mrs Peterson 1, Mrs Perkins 2, Mrs Bromell 3. The seedling stall was exceptionally good, and did good business. Hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames F. Connell, Munro, J.- Hindman, Ebbett and Miss Main.
