petitions, and a community sing, Miss Business Girls' Club. The fortnightly meeting of the Waipawa Business Girls' Club was held last evening, Miss J. McKay presiding over a fair attendance of members. The programme for the evening included competitivxsj and a community sing, JVliss B. Kingston being at the piano. New Railway Bridge. The contractor for the foundations of the new Railway bridge at Waipawa is a£ present busily engaged in preparing the necessary concrete piles, which are being made on the job. Tho work is progressxug rapidly despite the wet weather whiciL has prevailed over the past week or tvvo. A Wancjering Minstrei. A wandering minstrei made liis appearance on the main street- of Waipukurau yesterday afternoon, and proceeded to regale residents and visiting stockmen from the outlying districts with many popular "hits". Gassed in the war, and unable to work at ordinary trades, this old soldier has revived an ancient profession and lives soleiy on the proceeds of his masterly handling of the piano-accordeon.
