Clive Evening
The monthly meeting of the Clive Women 's Institute was held in the public hall, Mrs, Nichoias presiding over a very good attendance of members. Two new members were enroRed, Mrs. Leyland, of Taradale, kindly offered a trophy for the best flowep competition, to be known as the Leyland Trophy, M5ss Leyland, who died early in the year, having been one of the foundation members of the Clive Wor men's Institute. The roll call, ' 1 Sing, Say, "Whistlc or Pay," brought forth varied responses, but Mrs. Powell's recitation abdut our reeent concert was certainly outstanding and very humorotis. A reading from G. K, Chesterton was given by Mrs. Fred Hellyer, this being the Golden L'ink for the month. Wpod-pulp flower-maldng was demonstrated by Miss Gladya Gregory, and spme very. beautiful sprays and bead bands were mgde. A vqry hearty vote of thanka wfts pasged to Miss Gregory. Next month ijs the Institute ?s birthday, and arrangements are well in ^and for a real birthday night. Tlie month 's competitions rosult6d: — Cavered boat hapger, Mrs. Fenwick 1, Mrs. Bliss '2, Mrs. Prince 3, JJ^st dower for the jnoqth: Mrs. Gregory (iris) 3, Mrs, Prince (carnation) 2, Mrs, Geo. Merritt (daphne) 3. The 10-minute entertainmqnt was given by the Merritts. A recitation waa given by Miss Betty Merritt, and a competition word-building was won A dainty supper was served by the Folk dancng was then enjoyed by all. A danty 6upper was served by the hostesses/ Mrs. Fenwick and Miss Mounsey.
