Kereru Meeting
Tho July meeting of the Kereru Women 's Institute was held at "Whanakina," the home of the president, Mrs L. R. Averill. The question of a dance was discussed, and it was agreed to hold oue shortly. The competitions were judged by a visitor, Miss Mackie, and her awards were: — Best bloom, Mrs Johnston (iceland poppy) 1, Mrs Walker (chrysanthemum) 2, Miss Elmers (pansy) 3. Best jar of marmalade, Mrs Johnson 1, Mrs L. Averill 2, Mrs P. Walker 3. During the afternoon gifts were received for a member who was a recent bride. A competition arranged by Mrs W. A. Whyte, making a hat from a sheet of newspaper and' six pine, was won by Miss Mackie, with Miss Elmers second. Mrs Averill was hostess, and a very dainty afternoon tea was enjoyed round the fire. Members then read ih turn extracts from an artiole on Princess Elizabeth.
