SHEEP FOR KOREA

— Fress Association. I

Japanese Official in Dominion

(By Telegraph-

AUCKLAND, Last Night. I The possibilities of breeding New Zealand shee_g in Korea are to be inves-; fcigated by Mr. K. Sakamaki, an officer * of the Japanese Government, who arriv-. ed from Sydney by the Niagara. He will spend about two weeks in the Dominion studying different breeds of sheep to determine whether they are suitable for Korean- conditions. Mr. Sakamaki, who is attached to the biireau-of industry in Korea, has only a slight knowledge of English and, therefore, was' unable to give much information regarding his mission. He said, however, that climatic conditions in Korea were similar to those in New Zealand, and it was hoped that sheep could be reared there sueeessfully. Mr. Sakamaki will return to Japan on the Brisbane Maru, which sails from Lyttelton on July 24. The vessel will take some hundreds of stud sheep purchased by Japan and six Japanese have been specially selected to care for the stock in transit.
