ONGAONGA, This Day. A ball organiscd by tlio bacliolorg aiul spinsters of tlie district and held in tho Ongaonga llall, altracted a very large gatliering of dancers, wlio camo froin all parts of the district, and tlicro were many froiu outside distriets. Great i)reparati.ons had bcon made for tho cvent, the hall decorations bemg carried out in a very artistio stylc, presenting a very picturesque appearanee. The floor was in splendid an(^ ^le masie, supplied by Te J au s orchestra, was exceJJent, and went a long way in making tho ball tlie^ \ ery great success it was. For the benefit of non-daneers carda were provided in the library, the prize m this dcpartment being won by Mr E. Maefarlauo. ihe duties of M.C. were carried out by Mi Woodruffe. _ The excellent supper supplied bv the ladies was a fcaturo which was not the lcast appreciated in what was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.
