Benefit concert In Otane. To-night (Monday) a party of artists from \Y aipukurau will stage a Concert in the Otane Town Hall for the benefit of a resident who met with a serious accident some time agp. Waipukurau numbers among its residents some very talented performers, who have offered their services, and the concert promises to be one of exceptional merit. Ratrons are assured of an evening' s excellent entertainment, as well as the knowledge that they are assisting a worthy cause. The concert is to be followed by a dance for the benefit of the young people attending. Card Party For Otane Queen. For the purpose of furthering the interests of the Omakere — Otane football queen, Mrs A. G. Clark gave a denghtful card evening last week at her residence in Bell street. Log fires made the rooms cosy and cheerful, and a most delectable supper was served by tbe lxostesses and her daughters. Ihe chairman of the Otane carnival committee thanked Mrs Clark for her hospitality and valued assistance. 'ihe winner of the evening's play was ILrs Cartcr, aud a couipetition for an oak tray, made and presented by Mr A. Wright, was won by Mr Angus Wabus. Rainfall at Otane. Althougli Otane seemed to have an abnormal number of wet days in Juue, the actual amount of rain that fell was only 2.80 inclies, compared with 5.5 for June, 1936. The total to date is several inclies below the amount that fell in the same period last year. •
