Improved Wages Wanted By Workers ^ (Received 6, 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, July 5. Mr Grifliths, presiding at the conference of the Natiohal Unioii of Railwaymen at Plymouth announced that aceumiilated funds amounted to £2,037,993 He emphasiSed the need for impnoving wages and conditions and added thdt the Union could not allow sweated road competitiou to cut the rates. If the railway coiupanies cduld not pay wages guaranteeing a rea&onable living standard, the Gdvernment shbuld natioiialise the railways and all fdrms- Of transport.
